Senior running back Ty Thompson looks on from the sideline during a game against Robinson. So far, the varsity football team is undefeated at 4-0.

Senior running back Ty Thompson accomplished much in his years of playing football. But on an Aug. 12 scrimmage against East Bay before the season started, he didn’t know that this game would be the game his world flipped upside down.

Thompson tore his ACL first quarter with nine minutes left. His injury has him out for the season.

“It has impacted me in a good way and a bad way, in a good way the injury has made me appreciate football much more than I used to before I got hurt and the bad way is that as much as I try not to think about my injury I can’t and I just breakdown” says Thompson.

Thompson says he is doing a lot of physical therapy and although he is in a lot of pain physically and emotionally, his family and team has been helping him move the chains towards recovery.

He aspires to play football in college, and none of the offers he has received have been revoked in consequence of the injury. The idea of quitting football was never something he considered, saying “I love football,” says Thompson and his dedication to the sport proves just how much.
