Big Mouth makes local critic change opinion on Netflix originals

The Chicken Fried Steak at Village Inn has to be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, most likely in my top 10. It’s not particularly flavorful, I didn’t vibrate in ecstasy, but with such low expectations, I was so surprised by its flavors and textures that I fell in love.

What does this have to do with the new Netflix Original, “Big Mouth”? When I first watched that trailer, oh boy I was excited to pound it to oblivion.

I’ve never seen such a disgusting style, especially by the studio Titmouse, which has created wonderful frame by frame animation in shows like “Superjail”.

I was ready to strangle this piece of media raw for its Liberal garbage fire and forced message by a bunch of clueless adults who think they understand children. Little did I know I was in for a shock.

It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen this whole year. It hits every well-timed joke with its vulgar realistic tone, and includes a perfect capture of student stereotypes. I’ve been bamboozled, thinking this was an animated sex PSA, but in reality, it’s a dramatized scope of puberty.

The real kicker here is the adults and monsters, who steal every scene they’re in. As a reviewer, it’s hard to explain why a show is funny, so just take my word for it. Morice is to die for.

The art style, which appears nasty, is there for a reason. It perfectly captures the themes of the show, which include “Life is a messed-up place, and growing up sucks.”

Yet again Netflix excels at creating hilarious animated adult shows that can also deal with serious themes. This show is right on the bar of Bojack Horseman and Meet the Fosters, and I give it a beer belly out of 10, 1 being ripped wrestler and 10 being whale blubber.

This my Bimonthly review, I hope you hated it.
