Greek life has just experienced its Pompeii as another student has passed away due to substance abuse.

These fraternities are on their last leg, and colleges are fed up with this party behavior by students. It won’t be long before it’s abolished from most schools.

A fraternity is well known for its companionship, brotherhood- and death.

That’s right, these groups of students are now hazing to ridiculous extremes and forcing students to drink. Unapologetic brothers will force freshman to drink and party and never call the police in the sign of danger.

It was only a matter of time before these cases were uncovered. How much abuse could a nation and school system take before something needed to be done?

Dartmouth College had been trying to stray away from this aspect of its school by creating diversity centers. It’s another option of housing, and creates a better community of students.

The main issue with these environments is the lack of learning. Fraternities have never really focused on learning, causing nothing good for anyone and hurting everyone involved.

It’s a warming future to know these groups of students are falling apart. Schools are now noticing the danger a bunch of hyped students can be, and executing a kill code on most of these groups at schools.

What does a fraternity do that the school couldn’t achieve without it? Why are they still here?

Heritage doesn’t matter anymore, it’s about safety and acceptance. Fraternities are just a cruel way for upperclassmen to control younger students.

These deaths, from Florida State to Ohio State, need to end. It’s the student body that represents the core issue, by a mindset that doesn’t know when to quit.

I can only hope that this string of deaths will begin movement of change. A change in direction towards more schools built on academics, not on partying.
