Snapchat’s sunglasses known as Spectacles are a great way to share snapchats with friends from a new perspective.

Spectacles launched after Snapchat’s company changed their name to Snap Inc. and started referring to itself as a camera company. Spectacles, also known as specs are sunglasses that have a camera on the frame which allow videos to be recorded from the perspective of the user, as if it was recorded from their own eyes.

Spectacles arrive in a tennis ball shaped container and includes the glasses, a charging case and cable.

Pairing the glasses to a phone is easy and involves tapping the side of the glasses and the battery amount left will illuminate. Charging is equally painless as the glasses can be charged in case and the case holds four full charges for the glasses.

When Spectacles are recording, an LED ring illuminates opposite of the camera indicating that you are recording. Spectacles can record videos in ten second intervals up to thirty seconds.

The videos seamlessly then sync directly to the users snapchat memories which they can post to their snapchat story or save in their memories. Once exported from snapchat, spectacle videos save in a circular shape to camera roll.

The design of the specs is very flattering to many face shapes and are made to be unisex. Three colorways are available for the glasses in black, coral and teal, all colors include a yellow circle around the camera and LED light.

The downside to the sunglasses are the price, at $129.99 + tax. Although, in comparison to sunglass brands like Ray-Ban spectacles offer a technological value that Ray-Ban cannot compare to. And as a wearable piece of camera equipment specs are cheaper than GoPro’s.

As a first generation product, Spectacles have a lot to offer with few glitches and are a unique product that all who are fans of Snapchat should try. Spectacles are available online at spectacles.com but can also be found at “Bot’s”, traveling spectacles vending machines that pop up in locations and sell glasses for a limited amount of time.
