Harvey still a threat:

Hurricane Harvey made a return over the Gulf of Mexico. The storm hit over northern Louisiana, dumping inches of rain from Louisiana to Kentucky. Texas however continues to be the most adversely affected state, with cities such as Houston and Port Arthur taking the brunt of this storm. Citizens must deal with rising waters and flash floods; however, help has arrived in droves. The red cross has deployed thousands to aid in rescue and funds continue to poor in from the government. Despite all the help, death counts continue to rise with no end in the foreseeable future. 

 

North Korean test missiles and U.S. countermeasure 

 North Korea recently tested missile launch capabilities in a parade to show military power Tuesday, Aug. 29. The spectacle indeed did just that, with projectiles flying over Japan catching the attention of both the Japanese and US governments. Although questions over whether North Korean missiles could directly threaten the US home land, its off-shore military base of Guam is in imminent danger. Luckily however the US military has developed a means to counter missile attacks. Wednesday, Aug. 30, an American destroyer at sea shot down a missile that was test-fired from an American base in Hawaii. Defense Secretary James Mattis says America is never out of diplomatic solutions to international problems. But, the U.S. does have a backup plan. 

 

Angels descend upon the streets of Manhattan

 Victoria Secret fashion show fittings occurred Tuesday, Aug. 29, with the best models worldwide making an appearance to receive their wings. The location of the fashion will be held in Shanghai, with much buzz surrounding the occasion. Veteran models such as Stella Maxwell, Bella Hadid and big sister Gigi, have confirmed their runway appearance. Noticeably absent however was Kendall Jenner, who decided to not even audition due to her engagement as the face of La Perla. Her multi-million lingerie brand includes a non-compete clause, so walking for Victoria Secret is definitely out. 

 

Hurricane Irma forms in Atlantic

Hurricane Irma is currently forming over the Atlantic, graduating from a tropical storm to a powerful category three hurricane. The storm poses a major threat to the Caribbean and it’s still uncertain where it’ll make landfall. The timing of Irma couldn’t have been worse, with the nation still reeling from Harvey another storm could prove disastrous, as many rescuers and funds are currently pouring into Texas and areas most affected by Harvey.
