‘The Lab’ is located in North Hyde Park. Customers drive through rows and rows of warehouses. Locating the coffee shop is slightly difficult but once it is found, the experience makes it all worth it.

This new spot is a collaboration between Blind Tiger Cafe and Zeal Coffee Roaster, two other local Tampa coffee shops.

The warehouse is hipster and artsy and they have all of the doors open to make the inside a comfortable and airy atmosphere. Inside, there are big tables and a counter top making the shop a good spot to get work done, talk with friends or for students to study for finals.

No air conditioning may be an initial drawback as customers enter, but we soon realized that the opened windows and industrialized fans made up for this perceived lack. Even visiting the shop in the heat of August, it felt comfortable throughout the visit.

The shop is priced appropriately with other coffee shops making it standard and affordable. Customers get a good amount of coffee for the price they are paying, which attracts their audiences.

The variety of coffee types is also unique. They carry many types of beans from all over the world which encourages customers to come back so they can try new kinds of coffee.

Espressos are no exception to this variety. When ordering a latte, the barista offered three unique types of espresso for the recipient to choose from. If your knowledge of coffee is lacking don’t fear, the employees at ‘The Lab’ are more than happy to recommend the best option.

Because of their variety, coffee aficionados of all preferences will be pleased. From bold and strong to light and smooth, ‘The Lab’s’ coffee spans the entire spectrum of tastes.

Their flavor variety is lacking. They only have a homemade, gourmet caramel flavor, which is good for people who are a fan of caramel, but a major drawback for people who like sweetened coffees but don’t like caramel.
